We recently caught up with Wayne Walker, a leaseholder at Alexandra Tower, to discuss his experience of the development and the progress made since Collective Property Co. took over as Block Managers.
Having owned properties at Alexandra Tower for six years, Wayne has experienced first-hand the challenges the building has faced, including long-standing issues with windows and cladding. With repairs progressing and improvements taking shape, he shares his perspective on the work being carried out and the difference he has seen across the development.
Wayne also reflects on the importance of having a dedicated management team that listens, takes action and delivers results, recognising the efforts of both the management team and onsite staff.
Read on to discover more about Wayne’s experience and the progress being made at Alexandra Tower.
What’s your background and how did you become a leaseholder at Alexandra Tower?
I have been working in Liverpool for quite a long time now, so, we wanted to buy a second home, so when we come up here, we could stay up here for the weekend, and I fell in love with the tower. Loved the views, loved the location, and we ended up buying four in here!
Why Alexandra Tower specifically?
It’s the closest to the water and nobody can ever really build in front of you, and it’s just the location, it’s fantastic. Just two minute’s walk from the Albert Dock and the Liver Building, two minute’s walk to the city centre, it’s just a great location.
When did you become aware of the issues surrounding the windows and cladding at Alexandra Tower?
Well, the issues were always a problem in the building, and we’ve owned for about 6-years now, and it always has been a problem. Then, a few more have cracked over the last few years and now, but now, it’s fantastic they’ve been put back together.
What is the difference in Collective Property Co. being the Block Managers at Alexandra Tower and past agents with fixing the windows and cladding?
Massive difference. Great team, they’re getting the jobs done. The team are getting the jobs done, and it’s just fantastic to see. We’ve had all of our windows done here and it’s just coming together fantastically. The team, they’re cracking on with the jobs and it’s lovely to see, it’ll just make the tower such a better place to live in and it’s just great what you’ve all been doing. Your hard work is paying off for us leaseholders.
People are a massive important part of any business, so to see that they care and they’re getting the jobs done, it’s just music to our ears, but more importantly, it’s music to the leaseholders, that the job is getting done. It’s a pleasure. If you look at all the windows, they’re done now, which is probably the first time in 6-years since I’ve owned it that the windows have been done.
Would you recommend Collective Property Co. to other leaseholders experiencing building issues?
I would yes, because they care and they get the job done – that’s all you can ask. We would 100% recommend you and it’s nice to be able to pick up the phone, know where we are and the jobs are getting done. As everybody knows, there’s been a lot of issues with the tower, but now, Collective Property Co., you’re actually getting it sorted which is great news.
What are your views on onsite staff, like concierge and cleaners?
Again, great team. The staff on reception are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble, they’re always pleasant. It always smells nice, they’re cleaning regularly which is lovely to see, and again, just great that the jobs are getting done.
They care and they get the job done, that’s all you can ask.
